Wild Plant Identification & Usage
Learn to identify wild plants, trees, shrubs and cacti in the Sierra Foothills, the High Sierras or the Deserts in Nevada. Students will learn to forage, collect and utilize the roots, bark, leaves, flowers, nuts and stems of wild plants to make: teas, medicine, food, cordage, shelter, tools and fire. In a survival situation, your knowledge of plant life for emergency first aid, shelter and fire, could mean the difference between life or death. As you gain experience, this knowledge can also help lighten your pack load and supply you with fresh salad ingredients. Or maybe you would like some aromatherapy in your tent! I love to hike into remote hotsprings and make up little bundles of sage, laurel and pine to put in the water. Not only does it smell fantastic, but it soothes my sore muscles and kills 99.9% of all bacteria and germs on my body.
I encourage all students to attend these courses during the different seasons and locations as mother
nature offers us an abundance of life-saving plants year-round. The key is your ability to find them and
properly use them.
Course Fee: $195
***WARNING***
Nature's plants go through dramatic changes year-round. During these changes plant parts can
HEAL AND NOURISH you OR because of chemical changes within the plant, they can cause
SEVERE ILLNESS or KILL YOU!
Always use several quality field books to positively identify the plant and its usage for the time of year it is.
